The Melbourne based, 4 piece is a tight mixture of experience with Ex One Way System (UK punk legends) member Gary Buckley on Vocals, ex-Rose Tattoo Legend Stephen "KINGY" King on bass and dynamic and thunderous drummer Deon Driver ex-FORT, Head Inc's personnel definitely has the fire power to produce the results! Picked up by Faultline Records before the release of their debut album "Demons" in 2006, the label touted them as the next "real" rock-punk outfit. With glowing reviews and some killer shows with several world renowned acts, the lads were only really warming up. With the release of their second album "PARIAH" the band, whose potential had been bubbling under the surface like the rumblings before a catastrophic earthquake, has not only impressed audiences nationally with their blistering live performances, but have also taken their thunderous live show to the UK and Scotland greeted by audiences and the press alike as being nothing but "BRUTALLY HONEST and DEAD IMPRESSIVE" some even labeling the band as " the next big thing!". Having played alongside band's such as Rose Tattoo, The Almighty, L. A. Guns, Ratt, Winger, Budgie, U. K. Subs, The Screaming Jets, Peter & The Test Tube Babies just to name a few, Head Inc. have proven themselves not only as equal adversaries but a growing force in an industry where keeping up or dropping the ball is unforgiving and merciless. Original, Creative, Brutally Honest, Relentless, Merciless...... just some of the words to describe band's decree | MEDIA | Show/ Hide DIV | VIDEO | Limo Life Live with Ricky Warwick at The Asoria London 01.02.08 | RELEASES | DEMONS - 2006 | PARIAH - 2008 | ALBUM REVIEW | LIVE REVIEWS | Slide Down || Slide Up Metal Forge | Head Inc. - Pariah (Fautline Records) By: Justin Donnelly
Looking back, it’s safe to say that Melbourne hard rock outfit Head Inc.’s first two EP releases (2003’s First Edition and 2004’s D.T.T.) were merely practice runs for their debut full length effort Demons in 2006. Everything on their debut was a huge step up for the band compared to anything heard on their E.P.s. Almost a year and a half later, the same comparisons can be made with Head Inc.’s debut outing and their sophomore release Pariah. The relentless touring undertaken by the four-piece act throughout the country, as well as supporting the likes of international acts Ratt, Winger and L.A.Guns has well and truly helped the band (who comprise of ex-One Way System/Horse vocalist Gary Buckley, guitarist Dean Tsolondres, bassist Julian Medor (replaced by ex-Rose Tattoo bassist Stephen "Kingy" King) and drummer Steve Dalton (replaced by FORT percussionist Deon Driver) refine and shape their latest batch of songs on Pariah. The band gently eases into the album with a strong groove at the start of “Got Wings,†but surprisingly enough, the guitarists maintain some restraint with overall riff structures and solos, while Buckley’s caustic vocals shake up the tranquility with a powerful anthem-like chorus without upsetting the mix one bit. The follow on track “Life’s A Bitch,†on the other hand, is something completely different. The faster pace and big heavy chords certainly push the adrenaline level to the max, but there’s a definite feel of maturity heard within the songwriting that suggests Head Inc. have finally figured out when to hold back and when to unleash all hell. Tracks such as “Greatest Story,†“Strength†and “Rest In Peace†are prime examples of where the band have matured in their songwriting -- enough to perfect the mix of gentle verses and hard hitting anthem-like choruses. But on tracks like “Empire,†the riff-heavy “Lost In The Shuffleâ€, the punk tinged “Don't Look Now†and the gang vocalized “Hell Or High Water†(which boasts some great soul backing vocals), the band more than prove that while there’s a definite maturing in their songwriting, they can still rock with the best of them.Finishing up the album perfectly is the band’s befitting reworking of the UK Subs classic “Limo Life†(which is also the first promotional video clip filmed for the album, and features a guest appearance by none other than UK Subs frontman Charlie Harper). As good as Demons was, Head Inc. have finally come of age on Pariah. Quite simply, Head Inc. have improved tenfold. Everything from their songwriting and performances, through to their overall attitude on Pariah sounding above and beyond anything previously heard from the band. This makes Pariah one lethal-sounding release. Expect the demand for Head Inc. to grow beyond the Australian market and see Australia included in their world tour plans rather than tour the rest of the world without consideration for national dates from this point on. DRUM MEDIA | Head Inc. LIVE REVIEW - THE FORUM WITH STIFF LITTLE FINGERS 13.05.08 By: Rod Hunt Before SLF appeared, New Zealand's Badtown ably warmed up the rapidly filling room with their operation Ivy style ska/punk. Soon after, Headinc brought a solid dose of rock to the evening. They're a four piece with an interesting background - Front man Gary Buckley was, during the early to mid 80's, formerly the bassist with british punks One Way System, and bassist Kingy spent years playing with Rose Tattoo, while the drummer and guitarist both boast hard rock roots. Heavy rock injected with a punk attitude is how they came across, as they delivered songs lifted largely from their second album, Pariah. While they went down well with most, whoever threw the can that struck Buckley just above the eye obviously wasn't too impressed. And not surprisingly, neither was the vocalist.!!!! BEAT MAGAZINE | Head Inc. LIVE REVIEW - THE HI-FI BAR WITH STIFF LITTLE FINGERS 14.05.08 By: Graham Blackley I arrived in time to see the last half of support act Head Inc's powerhouse performance and wished that I had witnessed the whole set. Led by high-energy vocalist Gary Buckley, who used to play bass with the legendary One Way System, Head Inc proved to be a ferociously tight, arse-kickin' punk metal act well equipped to kick out the jams with cranium bustin' force. After bidding Head Inc farewell, it was time to chant "Fingers" as loudly as possible as the Hi-Fi transformed into a cheery football terrace.
